Upgrades and Modifications
When it comes to guitar modifications there are as many options as there are guitarists. Many times a guitars sound may be greatly enhanced just by replacing a single pick up, pots, capacitors, or changing the wiring configuration. Acoustic guitarists looking to amplify their instruments in a live setting can benefit from the addition of piezo pick ups, transducers, or microphones. Sometimes just a change in something small can make a big difference. For instance changing from a plastic nut to one made of bone.
Here we have a beginner bass guitar made of solid mahogany that had a cheap pick up that was lacking clarity and depth, but was otherwise a fine, well playing instrument. In addition the pickup was proprietary and very difficult to find a drop in replacement. So we removed the pick up and plugged the hole, re-routed the guitar body for a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pound Precision Bass Pickup, and re-finished with a nice looking two tone burst. The sound was greatly improved and the guitar now has a little character as well.
This guitar is modeled after the popular guitar hero video game and made for a child who wanted his first electric guitar but was just not big enough to handle a full-sized Les Paul. In addition to repairs we can make custom guitars and bodies to your exact
